Situated between South Beach and Downtown Miami, Jungle Island is a warm zoological park. The Island builds upon an opulent tradition, and a home to some of the most exotic and rarest animals in the world. Jungle Island History

Jungle Island prides in an 80-year history and dates back to 1936 as the Parrot Jungle. Franz Scherr created the destination as an idea of a place characterized by free flying birds. The early location of Parrot Jungle was South Miami and was well known for its broad selection of exotic birds such as pink flamingos, Pinky, cockatoo, and others.

Jungle Island has evolved for the past years under the management of its present owners who acquired the park in 1988. Jungle Parrot evolution led to renaming the park as Jungle island as a way to better incorporate the huge variety of fauna, flora and activities available.

The community in Jungle Island is diverse with communities such as the Jewish community available in most neighborhoods. The area is currently developing as a 21st Century, world-class city. Jungle Island has a modernized Treetop Ballroom, an 18-acre park that serves as an events destination in Miami.

This modern theme park features extremely rare twin orangutans and more than 300 vibrant birds such as the only trained Cassowary in the world. The destination is Miami’s arch entertainment destination with beautiful tropical landscape with extraordinary animals. The Everglades Habitat offers an educational platform for water conservation as well as ecological programs.

Orangutan School enables guests to see the marvelous intelligence of exceptional orangutan species including Peanut & Pumpkin, Jake, Hannah and Connie & Sinbad. Watch cuddly kangaroos at the Kangaroo Konnection at Kangaroo Paddock. Experience the Manu encounter by viewing free-flying parrots and macaws, Squirrel Monkeys and other exotic animal breeds.
